The best beauty tip for true impact? Reinvent yourself and your “look.” It is easy and requires no much less effort to stick with the same look that worked for you 10 years ago. Same hairstyle, same makeup, same skin care, same clothes…same workout routine. Result: Nothing! And even though we are still using what worked in our 20′s, 30′s and 40′s, etc, we are OLDER and we look it! (Plus, isn’t it time to look the best you can at 40 instead of looking like an older version of your 30 year-old self?) Often, we continue to do what works and rarely spend the time to investigate and utilize new powerful products and treatments that are available.
How to get started? Do your homework. Continue to explore new options. Make how your present yourself to the world and your health and beauty important. Here are some steps:
1)Find a new hair stylist, even if you think yours is fantastic and you’ve gone to her for years…Get referrals to a top stylist and get a consultation. Don’t take a picture of a hairstyle in a magazine. Ask what he/she thinks would be a great style and color for you to look amazing.
2) Get a good evaluation of your skin. A skin expert at a salon, a plastic surgeon who does skin care as well, or a dermatologist. There are many great new cutting-edge products and treatments available that can transform your skin and prevent more aging.
3) Women: Get referral to a great make-up artist. Not one at a makeup counter at your local department store. Caveat: I’ve worked with several great managers of makeup counters at Nars and Dolce & Gabbana. They were professionals and very good!) Many women do their makeup the same way they did 15 years ago or more. Your colors and application should enhance your beauty, not seem like separate random or the latest all-in-one theme applications of color.
4) You won’t look sexy, strong, or youthful if you don’t exercise often, and eat good, healthy food. This is a tough one for most of us, but it is a fact just like death and taxes. There are no short cuts here (sadly) and no “lose 20 pounds in 2 days without dieting,” magic bullets. Bite the bullet and create a sane workout and eating plan based on your age, special needs, lifestyle and preferences. Stick with it even when you don’t want too.
5)If you don’t have an “eye” for what really looks good on you, get some advice/help. Where? A image consultant is a good choice, if you can afford it. Some stores have consultants for free. Ask associates (ones who look good!) for referrals. You don’t have to spend a fortune with all the great resources for designer/well made clothing anymore. I see a lot of women and men who dress like they did for the first career/role. Unless you are in banking or finance–don’t wear clothes that make you look like you do. What do you feel good in? Create a style that works for you. Men: Seriously? The un-kept, bagging pant, rumbled look is not sexy!
This all takes time, research, and can cost money. But aren’t you worth it? Consider it an investment in your career and business. Just as important as key technology or education purchase.

Beauty Tip: Always travel with a few spare tea bags. Great warm up on a cold day and when they cool, great way to reduce puffy eyes!
Love yourself! Confidence is sexy. Embrace every little thing that makes you, YOU! Once you learn to love your body, no matter what “flaws” you think you have, you will be infinitely happier.
De-stress @ home…
We do not need to go to the spa just to unwine and loosen up. We can do that inside our very homes.
I love to cook. Engage yourself in the therapeutic rhythms of dicing, slicing and mincing that comes with the preparation of food. Make the experience a little more sensual by adding fragrant herbs in your food, nice relax music, and instead of the glaring fluorescent lights try using aromatic mood candles. This experience will help let go of all the piled up stress of the day.
A Beautiful Middle
Want an exercise that will flatten your middle, strengthen your back, and stretch you out all at the same time? I love this invigorating exercise and teach it in my Pilates classes at Printing House in NYC.
1. Lie down on a padded exercise mat or folded up towel.
2. Hug your knees into your chest, holding onto your shins, and keeping your shoulder blades off the floor.
3. Your chin should be parallel to the floor and remain this way throughout the exercise—don’t let your head tilt back—keep your eyes on the prize—a flat abdomen and long, lean legs!
4. Press your navel to your spine. Feel your abdominal muscles press down toward your back. Feel like you are scooping out your abdomen. Imagine your navel going down toward your spine and up and under your ribs. Feel how great your back feels with your knees bent into your chest and maintain this feeling as you extend your legs up to the ceiling and stretch your arms by your ears.
5. Your back should not arch up off the floor. There is a natural curve in your lower back that you want to honor but do NOT let your back move much from its original position (with the knees bent in) when you extend your arms and legs. You should not be able to fit your hand under your lower back when your legs extend. Check and see.
6. Feel your abs working to keep your legs lifted and your upper body off the floor.
7. Now, sweep your arms down and around your lower legs again as you bend them into your chest and resume the start position.
8. Repeat 10 times only! That’s all you need! Inhale deeply into your lungs when extending your arms and legs and then bend your knees into your chest on your exhalation. Make sure to breathe into the lungs and keep the abs engaged. Don’t let them “pop out” when you stretch out your arms and legs…this is a common mistake.
9. To make the exercise more challenging, you may extend the legs lower when you stretch them out. Just be sure that your lower back is not arching off the floor and that your abs stay engaged and in toward your back.
10. Finish by transitioning to the hands and knees for a great cat/dog stretch, with hands under shoulders and knees under hips. Breathe in and arch the back, raising the head and tailbone toward the ceiling, feeling a deep dip in the lower back and stretching out of the chest. Exhale and round the back up to the ceiling, pulling your navel up to your spine and dropping your head and tailbone toward the floor underneath you. Repeat 2-4X and then roll-up to standing, head coming up last. Stretch your arms up to the sky-inhale-exhale, drop the arms and enjoy the day!
I forgot to mention that if you do what I suggest, you will really look good in those Hanky Pankys.
